Peter Walkingshaw
Peter is a Cumbrian “born and bred” and has been pastor at Carlisle Baptist Church since September 2010.
Peter says “ It is such a privilege to be helping people here in Carlisle to meet the Jesus of the Bible. We are all about connecting people to Jesus, seeing people transformed by Jesus and then sending folk out in the name of Jesus.”
Peter has previously worked as an electrician and for a Cumbrian Christian education charity (NISCU). He trained for four years in London at the Cornhill Training Course and at Oak Hill Theological College. Peter served as associate minister for Trinity Church, Buxton for eight years before coming to Carlisle.
Peter has been married to fellow Cumbrian Lucy for 26 years. They are proud parents of four feisty and fun children, two daughters and two sons. The family enjoys all kinds of music, walks in the hills, good food, swimming and movies.

Nathan joined the team in September 2017 having been away from Carlisle for a few years, teaching in the south of Cumbria. Nathan and wife Jenny both studied in Carlisle and are enjoying being back in the city. They have quickly become experts on many of the local parks, visiting them often with children Jesse and Lucy.
Nathan previously worked as a Primary School Teacher before taking up a role within the church as ministry trainee. Nathan is currently our Assistant Pastor. He has studied for two years at the North West Ministry Training Course and on the Pastors’ Training Course at Cornhill Glasgow.
Asked about his spare time Nathan said, “many activities revolve around the children, but a favourite day out for all the family is at Beamish Museum.” Nathan has a passion for sports and music as well as enjoying watching a good box set with Jenny.
